Bronchiectasis
The bronchi are the large airways that lead from the trachea (windpipe) to the lung. Bronchiectasis is a condition in which the bronchial walls thicken due to chronic inflammation and infection, causing permanent damage. The damage allows bacteria and mucus to build up and pool in the lungs, resulting in frequent infections and blockages of the airways.
